Gasification and Hydrogen Manufacturing (GSGG) is one of the delivery groups within the company offering a wide portfolio of services and licensing processes, supported by a significant R&D effort. The group has a healthy performance; ambitious growth plans and employs some 100 professionals based in the Netherlands, Germany, China, India and United States. The main GSGG department is primarily involved in gasification R&D, new business development together with Gas & Power Clean Coal Energy business, design package delivery and operational service provision to new and existing assets for residue, gas and coal gasification and hydrogen technology.

Key activities include design and start-up support to 15 coal gasification units, natural gas gasification for the Pearl project in Qatar, and tar sands gasification for hydrogen production in Canada. At the moment 70% of the company's business income is generated through licensing to third party customers, and they have significant ambitions to develop their own equity projects for syngas production based on coal gasification.

For our client we are currently looking to recruit Process Engineers – Gasification – Operations Support to join the company in Amsterdam.

Key responsibilities

GSGG is currently building a support team for the gasification and hydrogen manufacturing related processes for equity projects (e.g. Pearl GTL) and third party licensed projects for the final commissioning and start-up phase, and during the further lifetime of the project, license or operational service agreement This role focuses on operational Gasification Process support. In detail, this will involve:

• Providing operational support during the final commissioning stage, first start-up and further life of the project or the duration of an operational service agreement
• Ensuring that lessons learned are captured and properly reflected in the process guides, design manuals and other critical documents
• Preparing the technical part of licensing proposals
• Participating in the preparation of Basic Design Packages and Basic Design and Engineering Packages for SGP projects

Requirements

With solid chemical engineering knowledge and proven working experience in technology or process engineering, you'll be a practical engineer from a solid theoretical background, and possess a good understanding of the inter-relation between engineering and process aspects. A keen interest in process integration and optimisation is essential, and we'll also expect you to have:

• Strong analytical skills
• Good communication and teamwork
• Fluent verbal and written English language skills
• The ability to lead a team of professionals in a project environment and work in close cooperation with a range of highly qualified experts.
• Experience of gasification processes, equipment design, solids handling process control and safeguarding would be desirable.
