Gasification and Hydrogen Manufacturing (GSGG) is one of the delivery groups within THE COMPANY offering a wide portfolio of services and licensing processes, supported by a significant R&D effort. The group has a healthy performance; ambitious growth plans and employs some 100 professionals based in the Netherlands, Germany, China, India and United States. The main GSGG department is primarily involved in gasification R&D, new business development together with Gas & Power Clean Coal Energy business, design package delivery and operational service provision to new and existing assets for residue, gas and coal gasification and hydrogen technology.

Key activities include design and start-up support to 15 coal gasification units, natural gas gasification for the Pearl project in Qatar, and tar sands gasification for hydrogen production in Canada. At the moment 70% of the company's business income is generated through licensing to third party customers, and they have significant ambitions to develop their own equity projects for syngas production based on coal gasification.

For our client we are currently looking to recruit Process Engineers – Coal Gasification to join us in Amsterdam.

Key responsibilities

As Process Engineer – Coal Gasification you'll join a small team of professionals to prepare and deliver Basic Design Packages (BDP) and Basic Design and Engineering Packages (BDEP) for Coal Gasification Process projects. In detail, this will involve:

• Liaising with customers during the project definition stage, executing the BDP/BDEP and providing services during the engineering phase of the project
• Assisting the customer during the final commissioning and start-up phase of the project
• Working with supporting engineering contractors outside Shell and expertise business units within Global Solutions

Requirements

With a degree in Chemical Engineering and proven working experience in technology or process engineering, you'll have a keen interest in process integration and optimisation. We'll also expect you to have:

• Strong analytical skills
• Creative, good communication and teamwork
• A solid theoretical background and a good understanding of the inter-relation between engineering and processes
• Experience of gasification processes, equipment design and solids handling
• Fluent verbal and written English language skills
• The ability to lead a team of professionals in a project environment.
